The Senior Learning and Development Practitioner is responsible for developing and implementing the Group’s Learning and Development (L&D) strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives. This role focuses on building employee competence, driving performance, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and development. The incumbent will need to deliver impactful, data-driven learning solutions, including induction programs, learning delivery, and compliance-related initiatives, while ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute a comprehensive L&D strategy/roadmap aligned with the organisation’s strategic goals.
- Foster a culture of curiosity, competence development, and continuous learning.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices to ensure a cutting-edge learning environment.
- Collaborate with business leaders to identify and prioritise organisational learning needs.
- Drive collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Induction Program Development and Management
- Design, develop, and manage comprehensive induction and onboarding programs to integrate new hires effectively into the organisation.
- Ensure the induction program aligns with the company’s values, culture, and strategic goals.
- Partner with HR and departmental leaders to tailor induction content for specific roles and business lines.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of induction programs through feedback and continuous improvement initiatives.
Learning Delivery and Facilitation
- Lead the delivery of in-person and virtual training sessions, ensuring an engaging and effective learning experience.
- Act as a subject matter expert and facilitator for leadership development, technical skills, and other key training programs.
- Ensure consistency in training delivery across the group while adapting to local and regional needs.
Learning Needs Analysis and Solution Design
- Conduct annual learning needs analysis, aligning with competency gaps, succession planning, and performance data.
- Design and develop engaging, impactful, and cost-effective learning programs (e.g., leadership pipelines, technical training).
- Partner with industry bodies to ensure learning initiatives align with industry standards
Learning Evaluation and Reporting
- Implement robust frameworks to evaluate the impact and ROI of learning initiatives.
- Use data analytics to provide insights on program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
- Report on key learning metrics and contribute to strategic decision-making through actionable insights.

- A tertiary qualification in Education, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5–7 years of proven experience in an L&D role.
- Strong knowledge of South African skills development legislation (BBBEE, Skills Development Act, etc.).
- Proficiency in Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e-learning tools.
- Experience in designing and delivering induction programs and facilitating training sessions.
