Senior Software Developer

Our client is looking for a highly experienced Senior Software Developer to lead the evolution of a business-critical software platform. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for high-performance software engineering, modern application architecture and mentoring technical teams while delivering scalable cloud-based solutions.

Responsibilities

• Rewrite and optimise a legacy C++ codebase using a modern high-performance language.
• Extract business logic from PostgreSQL stored procedures into API services.
• Develop and maintain scalable microservices.
• Build robust email processing functionality using MIME standards and regular expressions.
• Collaborate closely with DevOps engineers in an Azure Kubernetes environment.
• Contribute to software architecture and technical decision-making.
• Mentor junior developers and promote engineering best practices.
• Perform code reviews, testing and software optimisation.
• Ensure applications remain secure, scalable and maintainable.

Minimum Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related discipline.
• 10+ years of commercial software development experience.
• Strong understanding of C++ codebases.
• Proficiency in Rust, Go, Java, C# or another performant language.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and complex SQL.
• API and microservices development experience.
• Familiarity with Azure, Docker and Kubernetes.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Advantageous

• Master's Degree.
• Experience with SMTP, IMAP and email protocols.
• Cross-language development experience.
• Agile software development.
• Security-focused software engineering practices.
