Job overview

We are looking for a dynamic, self-driven Senior Agricultural Journalist / Content Creator / Editor to join our team. Reporting to the Managing Editor, you will be responsible for the research, writing, and editing of high-quality agricultural content. You will work closely with advertisers, farmers, and agricultural organizations to translate complex technical information into engaging content.

Key Responsibilities

• Research and write in-depth articles for digital and print platforms.
• Create content in both Afrikaans and English with a high standard of linguistic and technical accuracy.
• Basic processing of photos and videos for social media.
• Translation of technical agricultural articles.
• Development and execution of content calendars for social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.) and websites.
• Attend agricultural events, farmers' days, and expos to gather first-hand material, photos, and video clips.
• Conduct interviews (in-person, telephonic, or digital) for feature articles.

Requirements

* Language: Excellent written and verbal skills in Afrikaans are an absolute requirement. Proficiency in English is essential.

* Experience: 3 to 5 years of proven experience in journalism, corporate communication, or content creation (experience in the agricultural sector or technical niches is a major advantage).

* Education: A degree or diploma in Journalism, Communication, Languages, or an agricultural-related field would be an advantage.

* Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of CMS systems (e.g., WordPress) and proficiency in photography and video processing for social media.

* Transport: A valid South African driver’s license and own reliable transport.

Compensation and benefits

* Salary: R20 000 to R30 000 per month (depending on experience and qualifications).
