Paint Sales Consultant (Hardware) - Wellington

R8 500 – R9 500 Per Month depending on years of relevant experience

Established and Reputable Hardware company is seeking a customer-focused and enthusiastic Paint Specialist to join their team.

You will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, offering advice on paint products and applications, and driving sales while ensuring customers receive the right products for their projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assist customers in selecting appropriate paint products, colours, and accessories.
  • Provide advice on surface preparation, paint coverage, application methods, and product suitability.
  • Mix and tint paint according to customer requirements and manufacturer specifications.
  • Achieve sales targets and promote complementary products such as brushes, rollers, fillers, and cleaning materials.
  • Maintain accurate product knowledge of all paint brands and related products.
  • Monitor stock levels and report shortages.
  • Merchandise shelves and displays according to company standards.
  • Ensure pricing and product information are accurate and visible.
  • Process sales transactions and quotations when required.
  • Handle customer complaints and product return professionally.
  • Follow health and safety procedures when handling paint and chemicals.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Matric
  • Fully bilingual in English and Afrikaans
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience within customer service paint mixing and colour matching within Hardware/ Retail / Supply Chain / similar environment
  • Paint product knowledge on Duram, Dulux and Plascon is highly advantageous!
  • Basic understanding of paint products and applications.
  • Service-oriented team member with excellent communication skills and friendly demeanour.

Selling and upselling ability.

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Numeracy skills for calculating paint quantities and coverage.
  • Must be comfortable handling pressure and leading by example
