Pump Assistant

ASSISTANT: PUMPING (GRADING A)

Qualifying Criteria:

• Grade 10, 11, 12 or equivalent qualification
• 1-2 years’ experience in mining environment will be advantageous
• Proficient in English and any other of the 11 official languages
• Applicant must possess good verbal communication skills
• Good knowledge of underground water pumps will be advantageous
• South African Citizenship
• Clear Criminal Record

Responsibilities:

• Provide efficient support within Engineering (Pumping) section
• Ensure all the pumps in area of responsibility are in good and operational order
• Report any pump failure(s) immediately to avoid flooding of working ends and travelling ways
• Assist in repairing and in extending of delivery pipes
• Ensure and maintain good housekeeping in and around the area of responsibility to maximise pump efficiency
• Assist in installation of pumps, maintenance and relocations
• Always take instructions from the supervisor(s) responsible for the shift
• Conduct all work according to required standards and specifications
• Adhere to MHSA standards & Gold1 Group’s safety motto: “Nothing is so important that it cannot be done safely”
